A free eye camp was arranged jointly by Sitara Chemical Industries and Aziz Fatima Hospital at Sitara Primary Health Care Centre in 61/RB on 10.12.2009.
The camp started at 9:30 am and closed at 5:30 pm. Camp was headed by Lt Col ® Abdul Manaf Doger, MBBS, MCPS, Consultant Eye Specialist. Hospital Director OPD & Marketing, Dr Tariq Javaid Mian, made the arrangement from the hospital side. Other participants were, Miss Shamim Iqbal, Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Bushra Kousar, Deputy Matron and respective paramedical staff.
In the camp, besides the routine patient check up, checking of the eye sight with the help of computer, provision of the common and eye drugs ( free of sugar) and glasses were arranged. Total 262 patients were checked, 103 male and 159 female, among them 27 patients were picked up for eye surgery and were called at Aziz Fatima Hospital on 14.12.2009. All arrangements were done for the reception of the patients at Aziz Fatima Hospital Operation Theater. The summary is as under:-

Adequate administrative arrangements were done by Manager External Affairs, Mr. Mahmood Hayat Khan of Sitara Chemical. Separate sitting arrangements for the patients were made for the Male and Female visitors, where apart from sitting arrangements, registration arrangement was also managed by Miss Shamim Iqbal PRO and Mrs. Bushra Kousar, Deputy Matron. Patients were sent in groups of 10 each, after registration and this was handled by security staff of Sitara Chemicals under the supervision of Mr. Mahmood Hayat Khan. All the affairs were well managed and coordinated.
This was our first learning experience of setting of a satellite camp and it will certainly, form a guideline for future camps and for much better arrangements. It has been decided that the next eye camp will be held by the end of January, 2010 /start of February and meanwhile, another camp of Orthopedic Surgery will also be organized.
